A Masculine 21st Album

A bit of exciting news! One of my submissions for PC Supply Savvy was accepted for publication! Yay! This will be my second card in Paper Crafts magazine!
Some of my blog followers will remember that I did a 21st album for signing for my niece last year - blogged here. Well her boyfriend had just turned 21 this month and I was asked to do another album. As it was a surprise birthday party, I could not blog it until afterwards... just in case. I decided to use the Kaisercraft 21st album and combined it with papers from Kaisercraft. It took me a few days to get the cover finished as I was playing with techniques and media I don't use often. The cover was painted with two coats of Kaisercraft Mud Puddle paint followed by Tim Holtz Distress crackle in Antique Linen. This cracked very well showing up the brown underneath. I thought this looked too pale (this was the only colour crackle paint I had). I then dabbed Viva Special Metal bronze and silver paints over the top to achieve a final result that I was happy with. I'm submitting this project to Die-Cut Divas' Washi and Birthday challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Here are some photos from Nick's party with my niece and one with my Mum and all the Grandkids.

Reem Acra card

A bit of good news to start of with. I just found out that my 21st birthday card got a Retro Sketches Shout-out! Yay! I did make another card for this week's Retro Sketch, but I ended up submitting it for publication, so I can't show it yet! Another one of my favourite challenges this week is the Runway Inspired Challenge - Reem Acra Fall 2013. Here is my card using just black and a bit of red and also very CAS. I must welcome a couple of new blog followers. I've been a bit slack with blogging this past week as I have been busy with publication submissions. I submitted 6 cards last week to Paper Crafts Supply Savvy call and I have another 7 to submit tomorrow! Thanks for dropping, I really appreciate all the comments I have been getting with my posts. I do try to visit commenters' blogs whenever I get a chance. Until next time...

Magical Magnolias

When I saw the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, I knew what to do. I've had this Hero Arts stamp for quite a while but have not made a card with it. I have experimented with it when I first got it but was not happy with the results. I used my favourite emboss resist technique for this challenge and combined it with the current Colour Q challenge and came out with a result which I'm pretty happy with. I've also sprayed the card with Perfect Pearls, although the sheen on the card does not show up in this photo. I've ordered a Nikon D5100 and it should arrive next week, so my photos will improve. Yay! I'm also submitting this card to the April Hero Arts contest and the Simon Says Stamp April Showers/Spring Flowers Challenge.
BTW, I love magnolias! My neighbour across the road has the same one as the trigger photo. We just recently planted the dwarf variety with the white flower in our front yard. We couldn't afford to get a mature tree, so we got two smaller plants, so far so good, one of them has even produced one flower!

Get Scrappy!

Hi All
I'm participating in my first Bloghop today on Cups, Crops and Creativity. The brief was to Get Scrappy and use up left over scraps and we have to show the scraps beforehand. I had this week's Retro Sketch #57  in mind and it did not take me long to find some left over scraps and put the lessons I learnt on the Online Class Pattern Play to use. Here is the sketch and the scraps that I'm going to use.

This is the result of my scraps on my card! I used dimensional foam on some pieces to give it a bit of interest. The patterns on the papers were interesting enough and I felt that they didn't need any stamping or inking just to keep it simple. I'm submitting this card to Simon Says Stamp Birthday Challenge.

After finishing off the first card. I had to make another one for my DH's colleague who just had a second baby. I pulled out the scraps from my Kissing Booth papers (last cards made here and here) and this is what I came up with. I love personalising baby cards with the names of the babies (you can't buy these cards in a card shop!). I'm going to submit both cards to Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything Goes and the second card to Basic Grey's Challenge 91 - Clean and Simple.

Thank you for dropping by my blog, please click on the blog links below to see what the other designers have created out of their scraps! A big thanks to Chaitali for organising this bloghop and making me use up my scraps! If you wish to participate in this bloghop, you can link your card to Cuts, Crops and Creativity. A comment on this blog and all the other blogs will also earn you chances for a prize to be drawn by Chaitali.
